I’m so excited to share this Neffs Canyon Maternity session with you today! I’ve had the honor of photographing all of the big moments in Nick and Colbie’s lives so far so it’s only fitting that trend continues with Colbie’s maternity photos! I love how much fun we have at our sessions, we almost always find something to laugh about!

Neffs Canyon Maternity Session

Our primary focus for Colbie’s maternity session was not only capturing her first pregnancy, but also focusing on how badass moms are. During our session we briefly talked about how our parents’ generation never really did maternity photos and how they’ve become a lot more prevalent lately. Maternity photos focus primarily on the mom and the journey she’s going through, and how badass she is for carrying a child. I love that our generation is embracing how big of a change becoming a mom is and focusing more on mom than before. 

When we were leaving the session Colbie said something that made my heart melt, and reminded me why I chose to become a photographer. With a lot going on in their lives right now she’s been stressed out and struggling to feel beautiful, and this was the first thing she’s had to look forward to in the few weeks prior to our session. I love that our session helped her relax and take her mind off everything they have going on, and feel beautiful in her own skin again! This is one of the big reasons I decided to become a photographer. I want to help people feel comfortable in their own skin and have tangible memories of this point in their life.

To the Summarell Family, I’ve absolutely adored watching your little family grow over the past year. I’m so excited for your upcoming newborn photos, I can’t wait to meet your little bub!
